Vacation?

It's been a few weeks so we should get to posting this.

We were going to go to Hawaii for our vacation after finishing boards. We had originally planned to just go to Sacramento to visit friends and family, but weeks before our trip, Mike's Mom called us to ask if we would like to make a trip to Hawaii while we were there. We couldn't refuse.

So the plan was to go to Sacramento then get on a plane the next day to make our way to Aloha land . On Tuesday June 22 we made our way to the airport to find our airplane was going to be 30 min delayed. We thought "No problem we will still have 25 min to get on our connecting flight in Detroit." The plane actually ended up being over 1 hour late. We missed our connecting flight and ended up having to stay the night without our luggage in Detroit. The airport payed for a room to stay in and gave us some food vouchers. We were supposed to leave the next morning (Wednesday) at 9am from Sacramento to Hawaii and the only flight we could get on from Detroit to Sacramento on Wednesday came in at 12pm. To change our flights to Hawaii would have been an enormous amount of money so we all came to a decision to cancel the trip to Hawaii. =( But we ended up spending our vacation in Sacramento like we had first planned in the beginning. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the airport also lost our luggage. Moral DON'T FLY DELTA. (P.S. they are the same airline that Mike flew when he got stuck over Christmas break too.)

Here we are in Detroit waiting for the shuttle to take us super early in the morning back to the airport to continue our journey to Sac.

We did try to make the best of Sacramento. We set up a small pool in Grandma Gardner's backyard. Lillie ran around in a swim diaper because her swimming suit was in the lost luggage, but she didn't seem to mind. She kept telling me "Grandma's pool is awesome!"


We made a trip to San Fransisco , which we hadn't visited in a while. If you look hard through the fog, you would be able to see Alcatraz in the back. I know this jacket is not that fashionable but remember we lost our luggage and we didn't pack for San Fransisco. Once again, the fog, but the Golden Gate is pretty hard to miss.

We also made it to the Zoo there in SF and visited Mike's cousin Rachel who had just had their first baby just days before. It was so fun to see her and her little family. She use to watch Lillie for us when we both had class at the same time.

We also visited Grandpa Gardner and Great Grandma Cran. Grandpa played his violin for Lillie and she really like it.

We also visited Uncle Marc and Aunt Heathers house. We would have to say this was Lillie's favorite part of the trip. She loved playing with all her cousins.

We also got to see some of Mike's old friend and go to some of his favorite places to eat in the area.

Overall, not what we expected or planned, but still very enjoyable with scattered frustration and some lack of sleep. More pictures to come, possibly.
