Five years and counting

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary! We were married on June 9, 2006 in the Manti, Utah LDS temple. It has been a tradition for us to return to the temple every year on (or as close as possible to) our anniversary. It's a good reminder of our covenants as we listen to the words of the ceremony as we are married as proxy for others (for those unfamiliar with the LDS temple, it is one of the ordinances performed on behalf of those who have passed away). We continued that tradition today.

When we got home, after putting the kids to bed, we had a romantic candle-light dinner with soft music in the background. It was a very peaceful meal and a great time to reflect on some of the great times (in contrast to the tough times) that we experienced up to this point in our lives together.

We highly encourage all others to give marriage a shot if they haven't already! It can bring the greatest joy in life that you'll never know until you try. We are grateful for our marriage and glad that we made such strong covenants that have truly helped us grow together in a way that would never have been possible otherwise.

Here's to many more years to come dominated by joy, love, and silliness. =D
