More Halloween

On Saturday we had a great time at our ward Halloween party. Lame, we left the camera at home and never took out our phones to take any pictures. There was a yummy meal of a huge variety of chili, corn bread, and homemade root beer. After eating a quick meal we started in on the little carnival stations set up all around the gym. They had things like throw the ring around the pumpkin, a cake walk, face painting, fishing for beanie babies, etc. Lillie and I went to every station while Sam sucked down an unbelievable amount of candy for a kid that size and Mike and him crazily ran around the halls. 

Then just as the time for trunk-or-treat neared a huge snow storm moved in. All the parents that were going to stay at their cars lined up in the halls. Mike stood watch over the candy while I ventured  into the crowd of sugar crazed kids to fill our kids' plastic pumpkins to the brim. There is a cute older couple in our ward that every year they have a little vending machine and they have little coins they hand out to the kids, then the kids can pick from bouncy balls, and a variety of little toys found in small plastic containers. Lillie picked out two little Ninjas; this was one of her favorite things about the Trunk-or-Treating. By the time it took me to take the kids all the way around the church Sam had eaten at least 10 more pieces of candy. He has such a sweet tooth. The snow continued on through most of the afternoon.

Here is Sammy on the car ride home with most of his make up wiped off and replaced by a sticky face .

 Here is my happy Lillie!!! You can see her cute little flower she got at the face painting station. BTW Lillie and I did make her hair from a couple things of yarn, it was a big hit every where we went. If you look really close at the window to the side of her you can see the snow coming down.

 I love how neither of the kids are even looking at the camera. The candy is much too interesting.

 Sam has learned how to say cheese when we bring out the camera; this is a "cheese" smile with a candy in his mouth:) My heart melts every time I hear him say cheese with a big grin looking at the camera; really one of the cutest thing ever.

 Here is a little taste of the snow. We got more as the day went on but I really don't handle my sugar well and I fell into a bit of a coma the rest of the afternoon with a bad headache.

 Here is where my coma came from. It also lead to a big crash for Sam.

What a great Halloween party. We are really going to miss our Oakton Ward family.
